Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most common questions. For step-by-step help, see the guides; for anything else, contact support.

How do I use the map offline?

Download a region while you have Wi-Fi or signal (the app prompts you when you enter a covered area). Once downloaded, the map, routing data, and train timetables all work with no connection. You can download several regions ahead of a trip. See the offline maps guide.

Route planning isn’t working offline.

Routing needs the routing data for your area, which downloads alongside the region. If a route can’t be found offline, make sure the region (and its routing data) finished downloading in Data → Regions. Routing never falls back to an online service — it’s always on-device. See the routing guide.

How fresh is the map data?

Maps are rebuilt monthly from the latest OpenStreetMap data. Each region shows its data date in the Regions list, so you can see how recent it is. Updates re-download only the parts that actually changed.

Why don’t I see live train delays?

Live delays are an online overlay that’s cached for offline use. If you’re offline you’ll see the last cached copy (flagged with how stale it is). Some countries are scheduled-only, where no national rail real-time feed exists — see supported transit providers.

Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts and no sign-in. The app doesn’t ask for your name or email, and it doesn’t track you. See the privacy policy.

Can I share a downloaded region with a friend?

Yes. The app can send an already-downloaded region directly to another nearby device over a local peer-to-peer connection — useful when neither of you has a signal. The data travels device-to-device and doesn’t pass through our servers. See the sharing guide.

How do I turn on Diagnostics to help debug an issue?

Open the app’s Settings and enable Diagnostics. It is off by default and sends nothing until you switch it on; only log lines recorded after you opt in are sent, and turning it back off stops sending immediately. See the privacy policy for exactly what it includes.

Is the AI assistant online?

No — the assistant and translation run entirely on your device. Your chats and the things you translate are never sent anywhere. Availability depends on your device (Apple Intelligence or a downloadable local model); the app tells you the reason if it’s unavailable.

Is the app available yet? How much does it cost?

The app is currently in beta and not yet on the App Store. It launches free. You can join the beta to try it early.

Where does the map data come from?

OpenStreetMap for the map, the Copernicus DEM for elevation, official open transit feeds for timetables, and more — all credited on the data sources page.
