Recording, BLE sensors, journal & GPX export
Record a hike or ride offline, watch your live metrics, and keep a private journal of where you’ve been. It’s a personal log — not a social or leaderboard product.
Do this
- Start a recording (Hike or Ride). See live metrics — distance, ascent, and a backtrack of your path.
- Stop to get a summary.
- Export GPX / CSV, or save the activity to Apple Health.
Options & toggles
- Pair Bluetooth heart-rate and speed/cadence sensors for a recording.
- View your personal heatmap of past activities.
- An Apple Watch can contribute heart rate and activity-ring credit during a recording.
Good to know
- Offline and on-device. Your journal and heatmap are private to you and stay on your device (see Privacy).
- Recording in the background needs the appropriate location permission so the track keeps filling with the screen off.
If something’s off
- A BLE sensor won’t connect → make sure it’s awake and in range; some sensors switch mode only after reseating the battery.
- The track has gaps → grant the background location permission so recording continues with the screen off.
